Silva defends Richarlison’s price tag after debut brace

during the Premier League match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton FC at Molineux on August 11, 2018 in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.

Everton manager Marco Silva has said that Richarlison’s £40m price tag is justified.

The Brazilian winger, a summer signing from Silva’s former club Watford, scored a brace on his Everton debut yesterday, a 2-2 draw with Wolves.

Silva said: “For me, the figure is not important and it is not important talking about it every time.

“If a club pays that money it is because that is his value in the market – and it’s not only our club paying this money for one player.

“Of course, it’s a fantastic start for him. He is a boy I took last season from Brazil and we did everything to bring him to this club too.

“It’s a fantastic start, with fantastic work and fantastic behaviour, and with his talent, in some moments he can score.”

Richarlison started last season strongly at Watford, but struggled for form after Silva’s departure, finishing the season with just five Premier League goals to his name.
